Madagascar's coup leader has taken a regional tour he hopes will secure support for his plans for the island nation's future.
Andry Rajoelina returned Wednesday from talks with leaders in Mozambique, Namibia and Zambia, and says he will visit South Africa soon.
Regional leaders expressed impatience with Rajoelina's disregard for their mediation attempts. Southern African leaders are expected to address the political crisis in Madagascar at a summit next month.
According to a government statement, Rajoelina wanted to explain Madagascar's political situation and "the realities it has experienced since March 2009."
Rajoelina took power with military backing in 2009 from elected President Marc Ravalomanana. Ravalomanana has welcomed summit plans.
