That rumor emerged last week when a Metro Puerto Rico news article reported how Disney is in talks with Puerto Rico to potentially add the country to Epcot's national line-up, which includes Mexico as the only other Latin country. Puerto Rico isn't as much a country as it is a commonwealth and a territory of the U.S., but I digress. A post by blog WDW News Today said the cost of a pavilion is reportedly more than $100 million, which would be covered in partnership between Disney and Puerto Rico-based companies that want to be involved should the idea move forward.
Even so, rumors like this one get a lot of attention because the addition of any new attraction helps the theme park attract more visitation each year. Plus other businesses in the area can capitalize on any increase in visitation through hotel stays, transportation services, food and beverage sales and more.
Epcot welcomed more than 11.2 million people last year and is already trending among the tourism world, as Walt Disney World recently announced plans to replace Norway's Maelstrom ride with a new attraction based on the Disney film Frozen.
That said, let's have a little fun with a survey below: Do you think Epcot is due for another country? Do you think Puerto Rico would be a good choice? And if that's not your first choice, what country would you like to see added?
